Spotlighting in our 2ND October Fine Sale are some of the most influential modern interior design pieces of their time. The William Yeoward, Alfie table lamps are just one of many of Yeowards iconic and revolutionary creations.
Kings Road, a retail smorgasbord of timeless fashion and textile movements, was also the home of Yeowards first store. He primarily sold personally sourced antiques but had a selection of pieces that were commissioned for his own projects.
Yeoward was acquainted with the crystal designer and maker Timothy Jenkins who immediately realised that they shared a mutual passion for crystal and William Yeoward Crystal was born.
“Crystal has always made me very excited and of all the things that I adore I think that crystal is the product that gives me most joy. I loved it and was determined that one day it would be recreated in the style of my favourite 18th and 19th century pieces. His crystal was shown first in 1996 and was awarded ‘Best New Product’ by British, House & Garden Magazine. William Yeoward Crystal has a showroom on Madison Avenue, New York, and was granted a Royal Warrant of Appointment as Supplier of Crystal Glass to HRH The Prince of Wales in January 2008.
“William Yeoward was way ahead of his time in looking at design. Straddling both the traditional and contemporary which was unseen for his time. He started off selling mostly antiques so this grounding gives his pieces, despite some being quite modern, a comforting traditional design flair. A well loved character in the trade, William Yeoward sadly passed away in 2019 and is much missed.
