Auction Every Sunday at 11am Viewing Times & Valuation Hours
The London destination for Antiques, Contemporary Furniture, Art and much more!
Since 1979 this Chelsea-based business’s weekly auctions have been in every interior stylists’ and private collectors’ diary. The intoxicating mix of antique and contemporary items across two salerooms; from Persian rugs, to mid-century sideboards and Louis XV style mirrors ensure that there is something for everyone to get excited about.
Every Sunday (including bank holidays), the auction runs from 11 am on the first floor offering Contemporary and Traditional Furniture and Decorative items, Antique Furniture, Paintings, Carpets and Works of Art.
The specialist auction, which takes place most months, is a must for lovers of fine antiques, continental furniture, silver and jewellery, as well as unique carpets. We also hold regular selective auctions for Designer Handbags, Russian Art and Oriental Artefacts throughout the year.
The contents of the upcoming auction can be viewed at the Auction House from Friday through to Sunday. A fully photographed catalogue is available online from 6.00pm every Thursday and viewers can also request condition reports on any desirable lots through our website.
Lots Road Auctions was established in 1979, by local figure and leading antiques specialist, Roger Ross, the then co-founder of The Furniture Cave on the Kings Road. The company soon made a name for itself in the market by recognising the potential to sell contemporary as well as antique items at affordable prices.
This unique combination quickly gained a following with visitors and businesses from all over the U.K. flocking to the Monday sales to snap up an item or two, and often even furnishing a whole house! The introduction of online bidding, as well as live internet bidding, has only increased its reach and now the company has a vast array of overseas buyers from all over the world.
We try to help as much as we can, this is how we do it...
Some of the staff here at Lots Road Auctions have signed up to make regular donations to their preferred charity. We received a SILVER award for payroll giving!
In the last ten years we have donated over £200,000 to numerous charities such as Great Ormond Street, West London Action for Children (WLAC), Peace Direct, Groundwork, National Autistic Society, The Soil Association, The Haven Trust, Trinity Hospice, Honeypot, The Royal Marsden, Tommy’s, Amnesty International, Sustrans, and many many more. All money raised from the sale of our in-house catalogues are donated to a chosen charity.
No vendor charges are levied and the full hammer price is paid directly to the nominated charity.
Unclaimed goods (ie. The seller has not asked for his items back or the buyer has decided not to collect his bought and paid goods), are either sold on behalf of The Biodynamic Assocation, given to The Red Cross or other designated charities.
During the 1990’s my wife and I decided to give away part of our income to charity, we selected CAF (Charities Aid Foundation) and opened a Trust account which allows us to make either a one-off payment or pay regular amounts to charity – CAF handles all the administration and reclaims basic tax rate from the taxman. Recently we supported Charity Bank, the first charity that is also a bank.
If you can spend a bit of your time and find a charity that makes a real difference to individuals and community life, either give them energy i.e. money or volunteer your skills. It is all so rewarding.
Best wishes and thank you.
Roger Ross
