Lots Road Auctions is delighted to announce a special charity auction celebrating the life, creativity and remarkable artistic legacy of British sculptor Tim Rawlins, taking place on Wednesday 18th November 2026.

Featuring 83 lots spanning the artist’s career, the sale brings together a collection of bronze and ceramic sculptures alongside works on paper, offering collectors a rare opportunity to acquire pieces by an artist whose work was shaped by a profound fascination with humanity, nature and the ancient traditions of making.

More significantly, the auction will support ABandofBrothers, a charity close to Tim’s heart, with proceeds benefiting its vital work helping young men facing adversity to find purpose, belonging and a more positive future.

A life transformed by art

Born in Derbyshire, Tim Rawlins came to sculpture by an unconventional route. Having studied science and spent much of his professional life in industry and business, his artistic journey began with an unexpected moment of clarity while travelling in India.

During a conversation with his wife, he was asked what he would choose to do if he could be absolutely anything. His answer surprised even himself: “A sculptor.” Reflecting on that pivotal moment, Tim later recalled:”It was a true moment of inspiration, and I have never looked back.”

Mani Lipton, Tim’s Widow, added “When Tim started sculpting it was is if his life force started flowing.  In the early days he said as though he felt as if he was channeling energy and his pieces were creating themselves”

What followed was a remarkable creative reinvention. Beginning with ceramics before discovering his enduring passion for bronze, Tim developed a distinctive sculptural language rooted in intuition, experimentation and a deep respect for his materials. He embraced the unpredictability of the creative process, allowing imperfections, textures and the physical marks of making to become integral to his finished works.

His desire to remain closely involved in every stage of production eventually led him to establish his own foundry, Black Mountain Bronze.

The human figure remained central to much of his work, alongside recurring explorations of archetypes, sacred objects, standing stones and ancient civilisations. His sculptures possess a wonderfully tactile, almost timeless quality. They invite viewers not simply to observe, but to touch, contemplate and form their own emotional connection with the work.

For Tim, sculpture was as much about the response it inspired as the object itself. He believed that our reactions to art could reveal something profound about who we are.

Art with a purpose: supporting ABandofBrothers

At the heart of this special auction is a cause that reflects Tim’s own belief in the possibility of personal transformation. ABandofBrothers is an award-winning UK charity dedicated to supporting young men aged 18–25 who are facing significant adversity, particularly those involved in, or at risk of entering, the criminal justice system.

Founded in 2008, the charity brings together experienced volunteer mentors and young men through a distinctive programme combining one-to-one mentoring, transformative rites-of-passage experiences and ongoing community support.

Its mission is to help young men overcome destructive patterns, build stronger relationships and develop the confidence, responsibility and sense of belonging needed to create fulfilling lives.Rather than offering a short-term intervention, ABandofBrothers creates lasting communities in which young men can find guidance, positive role models and support for the future.

With communities established across the UK, the charity has become a powerful example of how mentorship, human connection and shared responsibility can create meaningful change.A fitting legacy for an artist whose own life was transformed by the courage to begin again.

Nick Carter, Managing Director at Lots Road said “It is a privilege to present this collection of Tim Rawlins’ work in a sale that carries such personal significance. His sculptures are full of character, creativity and individuality, and we are delighted to celebrate his artistic legacy while supporting a cause that was so close to his heart. There is something particularly special about knowing these works will find new homes while helping ABandofBrothers make a meaningful difference to the lives of young men.”

Dave Bevan, Managing Director at ABandOfBrothers, said: “Tim brought gentle strength to the ABandOfBrothers Bristol community – he was calm, open-hearted, and great company. When his family offered to raise money for us via this auction, we were delighted and humbled, not least because Tim’s Tim-ness is so present in his art. The auction is perfectly timed, as the Bristol circle is primed and ready to grow. We want to support many more young men, which can only happen thanks to generous funding like this.
