Lots Road Auctions is delighted to present an exhibition of works by the late Geraldine Phillips, ahead of its specialist 20th Century Design Auction taking place on Monday 16th March. The sale brings together a substantial collection of her pottery, celebrating a life devoted to creating.
Geraldine was a much-loved and deeply respected ceramist and potter. Born in London in 1953, she trained at Camden Arts Centre, Camberwell School of Art, and St Martin’s School of Art, where she graduated with a BA Hons degree in sculpture.
Her work grew from a love of sculpture and the quiet language of form. Hand-built using pinching and coiling techniques, Geraldine’s pieces feel both organic and considered – the perfect balance of beauty and form, shaped slowly by hand. There is an unmistakable warmth in her work, and a sense of care and balance that mirrors the way she approached life.
Between 1986 and 2011, Geraldine exhibited widely across London in both solo and group exhibitions, including shows at the Leigh Gallery, Knapp Gallery, Morley Gallery, and the Crypt.
Her practice, like her life, was marked by integrity, care, and a deep enjoyment of the creative process – not only for herself, but also in sharing it with others – offering workshops to Headway North London, a charity supporting people affected by brain injury.
Following her passing in 2025, Geraldine’s legacy continues, with proceeds from the sale of her work to be donated to Panzi – a foundation and hospital dedicated to healing survivors of sexual and gender-based violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Lots Road Auctions is proud to host this exhibition, offering visitors the opportunity to spend time with Geraldine’s work and experience it in person ahead of the collection being offered at auction on the 16th March.
Frey Miremadi, curator of the collection, said: “As soon as the works arrived, we knew they were special. The whole team has spent time with them, admiring the quality, the forms, and the thought behind each piece. We are honoured to be helping Geraldine’s family with the sale and to be supporting Panzi. It’s a privilege to celebrate her work in this way.”
The exhibition opens on Wednesday 4 March at 6:00pm with an opening night event and will be open daily from 10am–5pm until the auction day.
The exhibition is free to attend. If you would like to join us for Prosecco on the the opening night, please email [email protected] or click the link below to reserve your space.
